Dining
There are more than 30 restaurants in Cornwall and the surrounding area. Dining options vary from local fare to ethnic specialties including Italian, Chinese, Mexican, Indian and Thai foods. Many of the hotels also have restaurants or other dining facilities. More information about dining in the city is available at the Seaway Valley Tourism Office.
Recreation
Waterfront Recreational Path
Part of the larger Waterfront Trail, the Cornwall & Seaway Valley Recreational Path, is over 75 kms long, with much of it following the shoreline of the St. Lawrence River. There is an abundance of access points all along the path, making it easy to enjoy for walking, jogging, or bicycling. Bicycles are available at Nav Centre for $10 per day.
Golf
There are 2 golf courses within 10 minutes of the conference site.
Nature Trails
Cooper Marsh Conservation Area is just 15 minutes from the conference site. Seven kilometers of trails meander through marshland, treed swamp, upland meadows and forestry.
Museums and Historical Sites
There are several small museums and historical sites to choose from in the Cornwall Area.
Montreal
Montreal is known for its superb cuisine, vibrant nightlife, festivals, sunny terraces, cultural diversity and that special joie de vivre (joy of life), that Montrealer's are famous for. Downtown Montreal is an easy, one-hour drive from Cornwall.
Ottawa
Ottawa, Canada's Capital City, is a cosmopolitan, yet surprisingly intimate capital where you can immerse yourself in Canadiana and culture, embrace and enjoy the great outdoors, join the celebration at year-round festivals and events, and shop and dine in a relaxed urban setting of distinctive neighbourhoods and districts. Ottawa is a direct one hour drive from Cornwall.
Adirondack Mountains
The Adirondack Mountains of New York, and the majestic High peaks, are a haven for outdoor and indoor recreation of all kinds. Hike the nation's largest trail system, with destinations ranging from mountain summits to isolated waterfalls to forest glades. Canoe, kayak, swim, and fish our 3,000 lakes and ponds and over 1,500 miles of rivers and streams.
Lake Placid
Surrounded by tall, majestic mountains - beautiful no matter the season - juxtaposed against clear, deep lakes and rushing rivers, the town of Lake Placid is home to awe-inspiring scenes around every bend in the road. From this resort community, you can experience all the Adirondacks have to offer. After a day of outdoor adventure, the area's restaurants, spas, shops, hotels and attractions will provide recreational adventures of a different kind.
