Call for Abstracts

We invite you to participate in the 60th Annual Conference on Great Lakes Research, to be held May 15-19, 2017, at Cobo Center in Detroit, Mich. Seventy sessions have been proposed to complement the theme From Cities to Farms: Shaping Great Lakes Ecosystems.

All abstracts must be submitted online by January 13, 2017. The deadline will not be extended.

Submit a poster

Posters are a great way to present your research. You can...

  • enjoy more time and space for meaningful, in-depth conversations with those interested in your work.
  • diversify your skills at presenting research, including developing elevator speeches and graphic design.
  • network, explore new collaborations, and meet and converse with prospective employers.
  • win a prize! We will have prizes in a number of categories beyond the "best poster" award.
  • take your poster home to display at work or school.

We encourage presenters to submit posters for IAGLR 2017. Posters will be available for viewing throughout most of the week and could be featured in additional venue space.

We welcome abstract submissions for both oral and poster presentations. All oral presentations will be scheduled for Tuesday, May 16 through Friday, May 19. Posters will be given a high profile on Wednesday evening and made available for viewing throughout the week.

We encourage authors to submit abstracts for specific sessions but also will consider general contributions. If you are uncertain about the most suitable session for your paper, please contact the session chairs.

Abstract Submission

All abstracts must be submitted online. You'll need to create an account to submit your abstract. You can then log back in at any time through February 13 to edit your abstract.

Content

  • Abstracts should clearly and concisely describe results and the relevance of the work or research plus implications for advancing knowledge and/or effectiveness of policy.
  • Write your abstract for a general audience.
  • You are responsible for all grammatical errors.

Character Limits

  • Limit abstract title to 100 characters.
  • Limit abstract body to 1,350 characters (approximately 200 words). View sample abstract for an idea of length.

These limits are reinforced by the script online. If pasting in text from your word processor, check the length before doing so and allow yourself some extra room. Spaces and code for special characters (e.g., to add italics) count toward length.

A non-refundable $50 fee is charged for each abstract submitted. Payment of the abstract fee does not constitute registration for the conference but the fee will be credited to your account.
