- Sixth Biennial Lake Erie Millennium Network Conference- Linking Research and Management

The Lake Erie Millennium Network (LEMN) is pleased to announce the Sixth Biennial LEMN Conference - Linking Research and Management April 27 – 29, 2010, at The University of Windsor Windsor. This conference will summarize results of current and planned research activities in Lake Erie, including:-changes in trophic status, hazardous algal blooms and aquatic invasive species
-the condition of watersheds contributing phosphorus and other nutrients to the lake
-updates on hypolimnetic conditions in the central basin (the 'dead zone')
-preliminary findings of the 2009 Intensive Monitoring Year
-progress in ecological forecasting and modelling
-new pressures on the ecosystem and possible restoration strategies
-opportunities for collaboration and new research opportunitiesThese topics will form the focus for open discussion of ways to integrate binational research with management and public needs on the major issues affecting Lake Erie.

Conference theme "Lessons from the past, solutions for the future". Hosted by the University of Toronto, our program includes technical sessions with both oral and poster presentations, plenary sessions with internationally recognized keynote speakers, a trade show, and workshops on a variety of topics. We also hold an annual business luncheon for the association, a banquet, and several other social functions where you can meet with colleagues, old and new. The IAGLR Hockey “Lessons from the Past – Solutions for the Future” 2010 Defy Cup Challenge between Team IAGLR Canada hosting IAGLR Team USA will take place at De La Salle College Arena, 141 Farnham Avenue, Toronto, ONT M4V 1H7 on Monday, May 17, 2010 from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. Cost per player will be approximately 30$. If you are interested in playing, send an email note to Michael Twiss (mtwiss@clarkson.edu) stating your nationality and preferred playing position. We create the teams with the intention of maximizing the skill equality. A nominal fee is assessed for each player and coaching staff to go towards the cash prize for the winning team, who then have the honor/honour of donating it to the IAGLR Scholarship fund.
