IAGLR 2017 Recap
May 24, 2017
IAGLR's 60th annual Conference on Great Lakes Research is in the books, and what a conference! With more than 1,000 attendees from around the globe, and 70 sessions with more that 820 presentations and posters, this was our biggest conference yet. From Cities to Farms: Shaping Great Lakes Ecosystems was the theme for the conference, held in Detroit May 15-19, 2017, and hosted by Michigan Sea Grant, the University of Michigan, and Wayne State University. We've collected links to news about the conference below.
We had an active group of #scicomm attendees who helped tweet and capture the conference. Thanks to Nicole Wood for livestreaming the awards ceremony and several presentations, including the full session on social media. Also thanks to Katherine O'Reilly for capturing the conference on Storify. (See below for links.)
After the conference, we continued our discussion about communicating Great Lakes science on social media. Nicole did a poll on Twitter and we settled on the hashtag #GreatLakesSci. Use it when you tweet/post on social media to call attention to your Great Lakes research.
